A removals price used to mean waiting for a phone call or a surveyor's visit. Our instant quote gives you a fixed price in about a minute, on screen, and lets you book the same day if you want to. This guide explains how the price is worked out, what it includes and when we ask you to speak to us instead.
What you tell us
The instant quote page asks for four things:
- The size of your move: studio, or one to five bedrooms.
- The number of vans: from one van with two or three movers up to four vans and six or seven movers for the largest homes.
- Your two postcodes: where we load and where we unload.
- Your move date and contact details, so we can hold your day.
How the price is built
The price starts from the size of your home, because that is the biggest driver of crew time and van space. An extra van and crew is added if your move needs more than one. The journey is then worked out from your two postcodes. A short local journey adds nothing, and longer drives add a charge for each started hour of driving. The price you see already includes all of it, and there is no VAT on top.
Because the journey is worked out from the postcodes, you do not need to estimate mileage or guess how long the drive takes. Our costs guide for Kent explains the other things that move a removal price, such as access, stairs and parking.
What the price includes
- A Luton van and a professional crew, sized to the move
- Loading, transport and unloading
- Goods in transit insurance and public liability insurance
- Dismantling and reassembly of standard beds and flat pack furniture
- Furniture protection and placement of items in the correct rooms
What is quoted separately
Packing is booked separately after a free survey, so nothing is added to your price. You can tick a box to say you may need it and we will call you. Long distance journeys of five hours or more are quoted by phone because the distance, access and return trip need pricing properly. Unusual items such as pianos and safes are also priced individually.
Instant price or free quote?
Both are free to start, and you can use whichever suits you. The instant price is fixed on the details you give, so it works best for a clear, standard move. A free quote can include a survey or a video walk-through, which suits a larger or more complex move. The two are priced differently, so use whichever you prefer. You can ask for a free quote at any time.
Booking and paying
After you see your price you choose how to pay: a 10% deposit to secure the date, the full price by card, or the full price with Klarna for moves up to £2,000. We explain the options in how to pay for your removal. Cancellation is free and everything you have paid is refunded.
